In this 2 days’ seminar, you learn about how to turn your creative Ideas to a business that is profitable. How we define a successful design and analyzing your business model.
learning about price structures and concepts such as Retail, wholesale, artist price and Gallery Price., creating quotes for customized orders.
Each participant will have the opportunity to share and discuss openly their aspirations, intention and/or obstacles. also, we address very practical issues such as
– How to do market research
– How I price out my pieces for wholesale.
– How could I make a living if I was ‘giving away’ 50 per cent to stores?
– How do I approach a shop or a gallery?
– how does a gallery or buyer select?

Biography: Born in Tehran, Amir Sheikhvand currently lives and works in Toronto. . After completing his academic education in biology and graphic design, he went on to study jewellery and graduated from Tehran’s Gold Institute in 1994. He completed several apprenticeships with some of Iran’s masters in the field of Malile-kary-filigree work and Mina-kary-miniature enameling. He is a pioneer in the field of teaching women the art of jewellery-making in Iran. Sheikhvand resumed his practice in Canada in 1999 after several solo exhibits in Iranian galleries.
Beside his artistic practice in Art jewellery he has extensive knowledge of fine jewellery and executed numerous outstanding pieces of fine jewellery for one of the most prestigious design studios in Toronto. He has been a longtime advocate for fine craft and art jewellery and as an advisor he provides help to metal studio residents at Harbourfront Center in Toronto. He has been always mentoring newcomers and school graduates. He is a member of Society of North American Goldsmiths and Ontario Crafts Council board of directors and he is the co-founder of MetalAid Network in Canada.
Sheikhvand’s work is represented by Charon Kransen Arts, Galerie Noel Guyomarc‘h and Alternatives Gallery. He received numerous awards for his practice in Contemporary Art Jewellery and his work has been exhibited nationally and internationally in both juried and invitational exhibitions at galleries,and art fairs and museums such as Sofa Chicago, The Aspen Art Fair, Design Exchange, Valery Art Gallery, McMaster Museum of Art, Tom Thomson Art Gallery, Ontario Crafts Council gallery, Tehran Contemporary Museum of Art and Harbourfront Centre. He has 25 years of experience in jewellery , from fine jewellery to art jewellery.
